Mystery surrounded news last week of Orlando City working toward signing a starting-caliber European defender. The player's identity was unknown – until now.
The Lions are in the final stages of negotiating a contract with French defender Grégory Sertic, sources confirmed Tuesday to the Orlando Sentinel.
Sertic, 27, currently plays for FC Girondins Bordeaux in Ligue 1, where he switches between defensive midfield and centerback, his preferred position. He has made 14 appearances for 1,162 minutes and scored one goal since the 2016-17 season started in August.
He previously helped Bordeaux to a French championship in 2008-09, the year he made his professional debut and was a member of the U-21 French national team.
