ORLANDO, Fla. (June 29, 2016) – Despite dominating long stretches of the match, Orlando City SC fell to the Fort Lauderdale Strikers 2-1 in extra time of the 2016 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Round of 16. Kevin Molino equalized for City in the 16th minute before Fort Lauderdale defender PC scored in the 120th minute, eliminating the Lions from Open Cup play.
“I think we’re all frustrated that we haven’t progressed. We can play better. But we had opportunities and we should’ve won the game,” Lions Head Coach Adrian Heath said. “I thought [in the] second half, when we got higher up the pitch and put them under pressure, I thought there was only one team that was going to win it.
