Orlando City’s unbeaten streak came crashing to a close on Saturday as the Lions dropped their first loss of the year in a 2-1 loss to the New York Red Bulls.
After leading the league in defense through the first six games of the season, Orlando City (3-1-3, 12) struggled to hold off the energetic New York (3-4-0, 9) midfield at Red Bull Arena.
Heightened by the gloomy backdrop of a cold, damp day in New Jersey, the Lions loss was a disjointed, messy affair from opening to closing whistle.
Players tripped over one another in transition and sent passes the opposite direction of their teammates’ runs.
