Orlando City’s injury bug has wasted little time reappearing for the 2016 season.
The Lions will be without starting centerback David Mateos for two to six weeks, Orlando City coach Adrian Heath confirmed to the Sentinel. Mateos pulled up in training on Tuesday with a hamstring injury.
Less than an hour after Mateos went out in the practice session, winger Carlos Rivas rolled his right ankle during an attacking drill. Rivas will miss the opening game against Real Salt Lake on Sunday, Heath said, though the Colombian is hopeful to be available for next Friday’s game against the Chicago Fire.
