Orlando City acquired defender Jonathan Suárez on loan from Mexican side Querétaro FC, adding much-needed depth to the Lions’ backline.
Suárez started his career with Cimarrones de Sonora in the Mexican second-flight league, then moved to Quarétaro FC in 2018. He has since played for Pumas UNAM on loan, tallying one goal and one assist across 55 appearances for the three clubs.
At left back, Suárez fills a position that has been a point of concern for the Lions throughout the offseason after Kamal Miller was selected in the MLS Expansion Draft. Although the team selected several defenders in the MLS SuperDraft, Orlando City currently only has one other natural left back under contract — João Moutinho.
