Orlando City has opted not to exercise the contract options for six players: defenders Kevin Alston, Luke Boden, Seb Hines and Tyler Turner; midfielder Pedro Ribeiro; and forward Júlio Baptista.
Alston is among the players eligible for free agency and could negotiate a new contract with any MLS club, including Orlando City. He logged extensive minutes under new coach Jason Kreis and could be brought back to help bolster the revamped Orlando City defense.
During the 2016 season, Alston provided veteran experience and stability at right back after Rafael Ramos went down with an injury.
