The MLS disciplinary committee handed out fines and extended the suspension of midfielder Mauricio Pereyra for actions during the team’s conference semifinal loss against New England on Sunday.
Pereyra earned a red card in the 60th minute when he flew into a tackle on Matt Polster with both legs, turning his foot up to connect studs-first with the midfielder’s leg. The tackle earned Pereyra a straight red card, which includes a one-game suspension that will carry over into the 2021 regular season.
The disciplinary committee added an additional match to Pereyra’s suspension for serious foul play and fined the midfielder an unspecified amount.
