Orlando City captain Jonathan Spector likely suffered concussion during NYCFC loss

BRONX, N.Y. — Lamine Sané made his debut Saturday afternoon for Orlando City, but only because center back and team captain Jonathan Spector likely has a concussion.

Coach Jason Kreis was asked about Spector after Saturday’s match and said, “It’s not good.” Spector knocked heads with NYCFC defender Maxime Chanot in the 16th minute of Saturday’s match.

“He’s dizzy,” Kreis said. “I think we’re looking at concussion symptoms.”

Sané, acquired in the preseason from Bundesliga side SV Werder Bremen, was good in his first match for the Lions. He gave the ball away just once in Orlando City’s defensive half off a long pass, was able to clear the ball around the 6-yard box and blocked a shot at the top of the penalty area.
