Orlando City has announced signing two-time MLS Cup champion midfielder Will Johnson to a two-year contract with an option.
After playing last season with Toronto FC, Johnson explored free agency before agreeing to terms with Orlando City last week, as previously reported by the Orlando Sentinel. The club awaited league approval over the holiday weekend.
Johnson is a Toronto native but will not count as an international player because he holds Canadian, American and English citizenship.
“We are thrilled to add Will to the team,” Lions general manager Niki Budalic said in a statement released by the club Wednesday.
