The Concacaf Champions League resumed Tuesday at Orlando’s Exploria Stadium, reigniting action nine months after the tournament was abruptly cut short by the onset of the coronavirus pandemic earlier this year.
The Montreal Impact took a 1-0 victory over Honduras side Olimpia to open the action, but the win wasn’t enough to push the MLS team through to the next round of competition.
After a back-and-forth first half, Montreal midfielder Amar Sejdic smashed home a goal from the top of the box in the 57th minute to take the one-goal lead. The Impact held off Olimpia for the remainder of the match to finish with a 1-0 win.
