The Orange County Public School system is ending its practice of rapid testing high school football players and coaches for COVID-19 as teams head into the state playoffs this week.
That is a change as the district had stated last month it would continue its football screening program, which required testing for teams after they played an opponent from outside the district.
An OCPS spokesperson said Monday that the district will continue to monitor teams and “respond accordingly if a situation should arise."
“We expect the highest level of compliance to all safety measures by teams, individual athletes and coaches,” OPS media relations manager Michael Ollendorff stated in an e-mail reply to the Sentinel.
