For the second time in less than three months, former UCF coach Josh Heupel has reached back into Central Florida and stolen another recruit for his new team at Tennessee.
Jordan Phillips, a 6-foot-4, 295-pound defensive tackle at Ocoee High, committed to UT on Thursday, and he said Heupel was quite elated to hear the news during Phillips’ official visit to Knoxville.
“He got really excited and it was crazy. He started hugging me and it was a good deal,” Phillips laughed. “It’s really cool, Me and Coach Heup, we have a great relationship.
“Also, me and Coach [Rodney] Gardner [defensive line], he used to be a Auburn along with Coach Chop [Levorn Harbin].
