Class 7A boys basketball state title contender Oak Ridge faced stiff resistance from underdog Windermere Prep on Saturday.
But the Pioneers, playing without their head coach and a key starter, stood up to the challenge and pulled out a 56-47 victory in the Showdown in O-Town event at Orlando Christian Prep.
Kissimmee Osceola and The Master’s Academy also scored wins in the event, which annually pits public school teams against private schools.
No. 1-ranked Orlando Christian Prep rallied from 15 points down to win 62-59 against No. 4 Windermere in the late game.
The dramatic win extended a two-year 33 game winning streak for the Warriors (13-0).
