Michael James scored 14 of his 17 points in the second half as his Oak Ridge Pioneers team turned up the tempo and outran Windermere High 70-56 in the final game of Saturday’s Breast Cancer Awareness Classic boys basketball event in Tavares.
Jeremiah Bannister, a 6-foot-6 senior, also scored 17 points for the Pioneers (5-0), who are No. 2 in the Sentinel Super 16 Orlando area rankings. Windermere (4-1) is No. 3.
Both teams are regarded as Class 7A state title contenders, SourceHoops pegging Oak Ridge No 1 and the Wolverines No. 3 in its preseason rankings for that classification.
