The National Women’s Soccer League’s next commissioner will be a woman, the league announced Tuesday, though an announcement will not come for a number of weeks.
The announcement comes as the league officially entered a period where it is between leaders, as former president Amanda Duffy departed for a role as the executive vice president of the Orlando Pride earlier this month.
In its statement, the NWSL said it is “presently operating under a transition plan established by its Board of Directors and Ms. Duffy.” No other details about how the league is operating were shared.
