New York City FC bolstered its midfield Monday with the signing of Nicolás Acevedo on a permanent transfer from Uruguayan side Liverpool F.C.
The Uruguayan youth international, who was signed using allocation money, will join the squad upon acquisition of a P-1 visa and International Transfer Certificate. He will occupy an international roster slot.
The 5-foot-8 Acevedo, primarily a deep-lying midfielder, was awarded the “Joven Talento del 2019” by the Uruguayan Football Association honoring the premier U-21 player in the top tier Primera Division.
The 20-year old made 35 career appearances in two seasons with Liverpool in all competitions, including a 90-minute shift in the CONMEBOL Copa Sudamericana versus EC Bahia.
