On paper, new Orlando City coach Jason Kreis seems like the perfect fit.
The club had a list of requirements: Experience coaching in the United States. Check. Thorough knowledge of MLS rules. Check. A proven record of success. Check. The ability to turn a floundering team into a playoff contender now. To be determined.
Kreis, arguably the most sought-after American soccer coach on the market, was named the club's new coach Tuesday. He replaces Adrian Heath, who led Orlando City for eight years before he was fired July 6.
Kreis, 43, had a celebrated playing career in MLS and found success coaching the team he once captained Real Salt Lake, leading it to a league title in 2009.
