Prospective Class of 2022 recruits have been hit by blow after blow from the NCAA since the COVID-19 pandemic in March.
And now, the NCAA has again extended its recruiting “dead period” for all sports. The recruiting window was supposed to open April 15, but now in-person recruiting, pending further review, will not be allowed until June 1.
Football, given the sheer number of students involved, has been impacted most by the limits on in-person recruiting. The recent ruling means high school football prospects cannot visit college campuses and college coaches cannot visit high schools. It’s a double-edged sword that essentially knocks out the spring recruiting period for Florida and all other states that have spring football.
