UCF, Florida and FSU football programs are one step closer to returning to the practice field to help prepare for the upcoming season, with the NCAA Football Oversight Committee approving a revised preseason calendar.
The plan, which still needs to be approved by the NCAA Division I Council on Wednesday, would have teams spending several weeks in late July doing weight training and conditioning before starting a 29-day preseason camp on Aug. 7.
The goal is to offset the loss of spring football workouts and offseason conditioning that were canceled or drastically modified due to the coronavirus pandemic.
