Boone High School alum Jason Preston and former Orlando Christian Prep standout Ronaldo Segu went back and forth against each other with an NCAA Tournament berth on the line as the leading players in Saturday’s Mid-American Conference Tournament final in Cleveland.
Preston, a 6-foot-4 junior guard, led his underdog Ohio University team to the victory and a berth in the men’s basketball Big Dance.
Preston, who grew four inches after finishing high school as a backup player for Boone, stuffed the stat sheet with 22 points, six rebounds, seven assists and five steals as his fifth-seeded Bobcats won 84-69 against the second seed Bulls, who got a game-high 24 points from Segu.
