Has it really been three years since Dale Earnhardt Jr. retired as a full-time racecar driver?
Except now he is doing it in front of TV cameras instead of behind a steering wheel.
Earnhardt, of course, is now a commentator on NBC’s NASCAR coverage and will be in the booth with colleagues Rick Allen, Steve Letarte and Jeff Burton for Sunday’s first Cup series race on the Daytona International Speedway Road Course.
I am going to make a prediction right now: Earnhardt will become the John Madden of NASCAR commentators. Madden was once a Hall of Fame coach for the Oakland Raiders who went on to become an even more famous and successful broadcaster.
