On the same day the league announced it will bring 22 teams to Florida to complete the 2019-20 season, the state announced a record 8,933 new COVID-19 cases. The tally shattered the previous single-day record of 5,463 cases set two days ago.
“Yes, the level of concern has increased,” Silver said during a conference call with reporters Friday. “Not just because of increased levels there, but throughout the country. ... We designed our campus to isolate ourselves to whatever the level of cases were in the surrounding community.”
The NBA is providing extensive testing of players, with daily testing when teams first arrive at their Disney hotels.
