Winter Springs senior Marvin Collins was named Florida Dairy Farmers weightlifter of the year in a vote by a statewide panel of coaches.
The Mr. Weightlifting award winner won his second state championship when he dominated the 238-pound weight class in the Class 2A state meet two months after winning a 2A heavyweight wrestling state title.
Collins posted a 400-pound bench press and hoisted 350 pounds over his head in the clean-and-jerk for a 750 total that was the best state meet performance across all three classifications. He won his weight class by an 80-pound margin.
Collins, who was a football running back for the Bears in the fall, is the fourth Orlando area athlete to receive the Mr.
