Police identified the body of a victim of a hit-and-run incident Tuesday as that of 39-year-old Katrina Redden, the mother of Sanford Seminole running back Donta Whack Jr.

The Sanford Seminole football program, winner of this past season’s Class 8A state title, has dealt with several tragedies since the September death of senior Zi’Erric Wynn.

Redden, according to her son, was involved in the incident in Lake Mary and she later died at a nearby hospital.

The Lake Mary Police Department received 911 calls about a pedestrian struck by a vehicle about 11:45 p.m. Monday at the intersection of Country Club Road and Lake Mary Avenue, said LMPD spokesman Zach Hudson.
