Jalen Duren only arrived at Montverde Academy in August but he’s already feeling like he’s well into his comfort zone as the new dynamic inside force for the nation’s No. 1 high school basketball program.
Duren,a 6-10, 245-pound center rated as the nation’s second best junior prospect by ESPN and Rivals, slammed home five points and scored a game-high 23 points as the Eagles cruised to a 98-49 homecourt victory on Friday night against a Windermere High team that is considered a contender for the Florida Class 7A state championship.
Independent Montverde improved to 5-0 with its 30th consecutive victory over two seasons.
