National No. 1 Montverde Academy pulled away in the second half to win 64-48 against La Lumiere School of Indiana on Friday night and set a record for the longest win streak in Orlando area boys basketball history.
The Eagles (17-0), who had to go overtime in a Thursday night win against previously unbeaten AZ Compass Prep of Arizona, had a little more breathing room in its second game in Montverde’s MAIT/NIBC Invitational.
Montverde led only 23-21 at halftime but pulled away from the to run its two-year winning streak to 42. That surpasses the previous record, a 41-0 streak Montverde compiled in the 2006-07 and 2007-08 seasons.
