The Montreal Impact terminated Ignacio Piatti’s contract Monday evening.
The former designated player is now free to rejoin San Lorenzo in Argentina. Piatti previously played for San Lorenzo before joining the Impact in 2014.
“While we had decided, collectively and in discussions with Nacho last year, that he would remain in Montreal for the 2020 season, he indicated to us at the start of training camp tht given his personal situation, he wished to return to Argentina to continue his soccer career and be close to his family,” Impact sporting director Olivier Renard said in a statement released by the club.
