The Montreal Impact have acquired midfielder Victor Wanyama from Premier League club Tottenham.
The Kenyan international has agreed to a three-year designated player contract. Wanyama will be the Impact’s second DP alongside fellow midfielder Saphir Taider.
“Victor is an important player with a great career,” Montreal sporting director Olivier Renard said in a statement. “His undeniable experience will also help support the young players and help them progress.”
The North London club announced the news Tuesday through their Twitter account saying: “We wish Victor all the best for the future.”
“When I spoke with Thierry Henry and he told me he wanted me to join him in Montreal, I didn’t have to think twice,” Wanyama said in a statement.
