The Montreal Impact announced the signing of centerback Luis Binks on Tuesday afternoon.
The 18 year-old — who has logged more than 20 appearances for English youth national teams — will occupy an international roster spot and will officially join after passing a medical and received his international transfer certificate.
Binks initially joined the Impact as a trialist during the team’s training camp and he has featured in preseason games. The Englishman, whose first name is pronounced “Lou-wee,” is one of the Impact’s tallest defenders at 6-foot-2.
“We are very happy to acquire this young player with a very high ceiling,” Impact sporting director Olivier Renard said in a statement.
