MONTREAL — Montreal Impact goalkeeper Clement Diop sunk Deportivo Saprissa’s hopes in the 88th minute, snuffing out a shot attempt that would’ve altered the result. With a 0-0 draw, the Impact advanced to the Concacaf Champions quarterfinals on a 2-2 aggregate scoreline.
The Impact had the advantage in the aggregate, having scored two away goals last week in Costa Rica.
Near the death of the second leg Tuesday, Mariano Torres was left alone at the top of the box, got the ball from a teammate and took a shot towards the far post. Diop lept and caught the ball with his fingers.
