MLS players and owners ratified a new collective bargaining agreement during the weekend, clearing the way for the league to move forward with the 2021 season.
The two parties reached a tentative agreement shortly before the midnight deadline on Friday. The deadline had already been extended twice — once by a week, once by a day — to allow for further negotiations.
“MLS players have made incredible sacrifices and overcome considerable challenges in the past year to continue doing their jobs during a difficult time for all of us,” the MLS Players Association said in a statement released Monday.
