MLS, NWSL, USWNT soccer players sign join statement against voter suppression

Players from Major League Soccer, the National Women’s Soccer League and the U.S. women’s national team joined in an inter-league effort to combat voter suppression by releasing a joint statement on Monday.

The statement was developed by the MLSPA, NWSLPA and USWNTPA along with the players associations representing the WNBA, NBA, NFL, NWHL, PWHL and the Basketball Players Union.

These nine players associations took a stand against proposed bills and legislation that “could make it harder for ordinary citizens to cast their ballots in future election seasons.”

Voter suppression has been a mechanism for furthering racial and social supremacy in the U.
