MLS players and owners committed to a new collective bargaining agreement and a new season start date, but commissioner Don Garber says there are still areas of uncertainty for the league.
The negotiation will delay the start of the 2021 season, pushing back opening weekend by two weeks to April 17. But Garber said the agreement came as a relief.
“I will tell you that I’m pleased — and I’m sure [MLSPA executive director] Bob [Foose] would agree — that we don’t have to negotiate again for another seven years,” Garber said. “That’s probably going to add years to both of our lives.
