Major League Soccer is on the verge of a lockout after reaching an impasse with players while negotiating terms for resuming play in Orlando, according to multiple reports.
The MLS Players Association voted to approve a new counteroffer Sunday night, offering to reduce player compensation as well as other cuts in a revised Collective Bargaining Agreement.
However, ESPN reports the league leaders feel their most recent offer was the most they were willing to concede and MLS sent its original proposal back to players unedited. If players are unwilling to approve the league plan by noon Tuesday, ESPN analyst Herculez Gomez reported the league will lock players out.
