Bubba Bolden received his second major preseason honor on Monday, with the Miami Hurricanes safety being named to the watch list for the Jim Thorpe Award, which is annually given to college football’s most outstanding defensive back.
Bolden, who’s entering his fourth college season and third with Miami, is coming off a 2020 season in which he was named a semifinalist for the Jim Thorpe Award and a second-team All-ACC selection after leading the Hurricanes with 74 total tackles.
He was also named to the watch list for the Chuck Bednarik Award, which is given annually to college football’s most outstanding defensive player.
