Miami Hurricanes redshirt junior quarterback Tate Martell has opted out of the 2020 college football season, a source confirmed to the South Florida Sun Sentinel.
Martell was suspended for UM’s season-opening win against UAB on Sept. 10, but coach Manny Diaz said after that game Martell would be back for Miami’s following game, Saturday night at Louisville in an ACC opener for both teams.
Martell was not listed on the Hurricanes' depth chart for the opener. Then, Diaz told reporters of the suspension following the UAB game, and Martell was still not on the depth chart for the team’s revised depth chart for the ensuing week.
