“The Division I Council Coordination Committee extended the recruiting dead period for all sports through July 31,” an NCAA release said of the decision originally made in March during the start of the COVID-19 outbreak in the United States. “The committee will regularly evaluate the dead period, continuing to be guided by medical experts.”
A recruiting dead period means no face-to-face or in-person contact may occur between a college team’s coaches or staff and a prospective student-athlete. Miami coaches have been active in electronic communication with recruits during the coronavirus pandemic.
Paradise Camp, which has been running every summer for the past four years at UM, is normally held in June or July before the Hurricanes football team begins training camp ahead of the fall season.
