CORAL GABLES — The Miami Hurricanes football program are contemplating whether they should allow Avantae Williams to rejoin the team after his felony charges from last month were recently dropped, UM coach Manny Diaz told reporters following Monday’s practice.
Williams was dismissed from the program on July 22 after he was arrested and charged with three counts of aggravated battery on his pregnant ex-girlfriend earlier that week, according to Miami-Dade County’s arrest records.
Those charges, which Williams pleaded not guilty to before being released with a restraining order against him and under house arrest on a $10,000 bond, were dropped last Friday with the state attorney’s office closing the case, according to records from Miami-Dade County’s Clerk of the Courts.
