Mets continue slide into oblivion

The Mets dropped their seventh game in eight tries, clinching a series win for the Dodgers, who wrangled a 3-2 win on Friday night in Los Angeles. As these things seem to go, the Mets also got no help from the umpires, one of whom received unwanted attention for his strike zone in the top of the eighth inning. Home plate umpire Nestor Ceja, who made his MLB debut last season, showered rain drops the Mets’ kindling when he called Jeff McNeil out on strikes for a pitch that was clearly ball four.

“The dugout view is really hard to see,” manager Luis Rojas said of the call.
