All eyes were on rookie Cole Anthony after he scored the Magic’s go-ahead goal Saturday to preserve a mostly dominant 120-117 preseason win over the Charlotte Hornets.
He led a group of young players who showed up when the Magic needed them despite still working on various aspects of their games.
Anthony, 20, was a first-round draft pick and will work to continue to prove himself in Orlando after his 19-point performance Saturday. Some others’ Magic journeys came to an end and they won’t be around for the team’s season opener against the Miami Heat at 7 Wednesday night.
