The Orlando Magic have signed Chasson Randle to a two-way contract to help offset the team’s painful point-guard shortage.
The injury-plagued team lost starter Markelle Fultz to a season-ending knee injury in January. Backup point guard Cole Anthony (shoulder strain) and the recently signed Frank Mason (groin strain) have both been sidelined.
Reserve guard Michael Carter-Williams returned to the lineup against the Kings during the weekend after missing 19 straight contests because of a sprained left foot. He provided a big lift, but he can’t handle point guard duties alone.
Magic coach Steve Clifford struggled piecing together a lineup during a four-game road trip, during which the team typically had eight healthy players available.
