The initial evaluation of Orlando Magic rookie Cole Anthony’s shoulder strain indicates the injury is muscular and no MRI is planned at this point, team officials said Wednesday.
Frank Mason started the second half in Anthony’s place and went on to play 31 minutes. Mason finished 4-of-10 from the field for 11 points to go along with seven rebounds and four assists.
If the injury forces Anthony to miss any time, the recently-signed Mason would move up the depth chart. Mason joined the team last Thursday after signing a two-way contract and was in the lineup as the backup point guard the next day.
