This is the 10th in a series of player capsules from the Orlando Magic’s 2020-21 season; find others at OrlandoSentinel.com/Magic:
Contract status: Hampton completed the first year of the rookie-scale contract he signed in 2020 after coming to Orlando in a March 25 trade that sent Aaron Gordon to Denver. Hampton is set to earn $2.3 million next season (with team options for 2022-23 and 2023-24).
The buzz: The Magic gave Hampton nearly three times more playing time than he got with the Nuggets and he responded by showing growth. He accumulated 233 minutes over 25 games in Denver, although he was sidelined for 10 games from March 1-23 because of COVID.
