Magic G Michael Carter-Williams has ankle surgery, will miss start of season

The Orlando Magic announced Tuesday that veteran guard Michael Carter-Williams will miss the start of the upcoming regular season after undergoing surgery Monday on his left ankle to remove a bone fragment and to repair a ligament. The Magic press release stated that his “return to basketball activities will depend on how he responds to treatment and rehabilitation,” but added he is “expected to make a full recovery.”

Williams apparently started having some pain in the ankle recently and upon further evaluation the bone fragment was discovered. Magic officials, however, would not confirm the reason for the late surgery nor the timetable for the injury.
