Jonathan Isaac couldn’t believe he was standing in the Vatican with the opportunity to talk with Pope Francis about two of his passions — Jesus Christ and helping others — while also sharing a spiritual bond with the leader of the Catholic church.
The Orlando Magic forward was part of a delegation of NBA players who met with the pope Monday in Rome to discuss the social justice work led by the players.
“I was so excited,” Isaac said Tuesday from LaGuardia Airport as he awaited a flight to Orlando. “To be given the opportunity to speak was huge for me.
