Orlando City fans are ready for the first match in the Lions’ new stadium.
Rivals Orlando City and New York City FC will face off in a match that will be broadcast on ESPN at 5 p.m. The Lions’ new 25,500-seat stadium is sold out and fans steadily making their way the club’s privately funded home hours before kickoff.
Supporters started filling their special section shortly after 2 p.m., while other fans stood in long lines outside the venue.
The streets adjacent to the stadium, including Church Street, closed at noon and food trucks parked outside in the fan zone, serving those parked in $20 pay lots around the Parramore neighborhood or in select lots sold to season ticket holders.
