LHP, Wekiva, Master’s Academy, City of Life advance to girls basketball state final four

Any doubt that the MaxPreps’ national No. 1 Lake Highland Prep girls basketball team would have a tough time staying undefeated Friday against Crystal River went away less than three minutes into the game.

A pair of 3-pointers by Eleecia Carter, a steal and layup by Nyla Harris, another 3-pointer from Lexi Blue and a steal and layup by Kayla Blackshear put the Highlanders up 13-0 with 5:28 left in the first quarter.

The scoreless run for Crystal River (19-4) reached 36 straight points to start the game, and that was all she wrote as defending Class 4A state champion LHP won its 33rd consecutive game 81-20 to claim the Region 2 championship.
