A portion of the crowd chanted “Bil-ly!” as Chicago White Sox outfielder Billy Hamilton made his way to the plate in the eighth inning.
There were two outs and two on in a tie game against the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday at Guaranteed Rate Field.
“It was just one of those situations where I had to calm my nerves,” Hamilton said. “I just wanted to get in there and slow everything down and put the ball in play.”
Hamilton ripped a single to left and Zack Collins scored from second, giving the Sox the lead. José Abreu followed with a three-run home run to left.
