Lake Nona lost three matches in a span of four days in September — all at Lyman High School. Two of those defeats came against Lyman.
But the Lions (20-3) haven’t lost since and they get one more final shot at the top-ranked Greyhounds (28-1) in the Class 7A girls volleyball state championship match played in Fort Myers this weekend. It’s the first volleyball state final appearance for both programs.
Lyman (28-1) is ranked No. 1 in 7A and Lake Nona (20-3) is No. 2 by MaxPreps going into a showdown that was rescheduled by the Florida High School Athletic Association due to Tropical Storm Eta, which was downgraded from hurricane status on Wednesday but was expected to make landfall north of Tampa early on Thursday and bring heavy rain and winds to Central Florida as it crosses the state.
