Apopka, Seminole, Osceola have all celebrated Florida high school football state championships. Edgewater has played in four FHSAA finals.
Lake Minneola, by contrast, is playing on its home field but finds itself in new territory in its Class 6A state semifinal game against St. Augustine tonight. It’s the first football final four appearance for the Hawks, who had not won a district championship and had been over .500 only once before their 9-4 region final season last year.
Lake Minneola, in its tenth year of existence, is 10-1 going into tonight’s game against St. Augustine (10-2).
Apopka (8-3), the Orlando area leader with three state titles, is hosting 2008 state champ Seminole (10-0) in a Class 8A semifinal.
